School Event: Photography with Year 5

June 2008

During the Summer term an artist has been working with Year 5 children using cameras to develop their observational, photographic and creativity skills.

The children have now started to manipulate the photographs and add text using Photoshop Elements.

Ming came in and said to us to go home and bring in any dressing up costumes we had, like a pilots uniform or a football kit. When we had the costumes, some children went down to Reception. They chose a couple of children to dress up.

Each Year 5 child helped an infant and they dressed them up and helped pose them in front of a white screen. Ming gave us her expensive digital camera and showed us how to use it, we took about four pictures. The infants enjoyed dressing up especially when they knew they would be out of class!

We then used Photoshop Elements to add text to the pictures. We also use the liquefy tool to change the photograph, like pulling their noses and mixing parts of the body around!
