School Event: Year 4 Cricket Festival at Kings Heath

26 March 2009

The cricket tournament was very spectacular.

First Mark Evenson came to school on February 25th and coached us in bowling, fielding and batting. We had fun. We had a relay to improve our catching. We also had to step, swing and stretch to hit the ball if our foot was in position when we were batting.

Then a few weeks later the day came for us to go to Kings Heath Cricket Club for the tournament.

First we had to warm ourselves up. We had to run up and down fields and have lots of races to warm ourselves up. We had to hop for three minutes and jump for three minutes if we stopped we would have to start again.

After the warm up we had a game of cricket. One of our best players was Masharaf. He was good at hitting the ball over the houses! Arden A came in first place and Arden B came in sixth place. Arden A and Arden B tried very hard to win the tournament. We had to score lots of runs and we had to catch as many balls as we could. Everyone was given one chance if they were out first ball. We had a tournament against 5 teams from Montgomery and teams from Colmore, Woodthorpe and Wheelers Lane.

We would like to thank Mark for coaching us and Mathew Hodges for helping us on the day.
