School Event: Year 5 visit Aston Villa

29 January 2009

Visiting AVFC was a great experience for the whole of Year 5 and in fact it was to do with healthy eating, which we are studying at Arden. We learnt about a footballer’s diet and also learnt new football skills.

It was our second visit. The first time we went the water supplies were shut off because a water main pipe had burst during the freezing weather and for health and safety reasons we had to return to our school. We went back on the 29th of January.

We went to the academy to play football and learn new skills, we even took penalties at the goal. After a while we had some 7-a-side matches and they were brilliant.

Then we learnt about healthy eating and played some games. Next we went to do some chopping food and cooking. When the food you can see was ready we ate the food but some people did not like it and some people did like it. For desert we had fruit salad.

After a while we went to the ice youth gym and went on the running machine We also did some boxing and weight lifting. Also we did sit ups, even better than that we went on the cross trainer that doesn’t move how ever hard you pedal and the rowing machine that also doesn’t move.

After a while we went to the radio station. We performed our raps and even got to see a version of our faces in cartoon ability. It was an excellent visit and we hope one day we can revisit the magnificent sites of the beautiful AVFC.
