Out of Hours
At Arden we aim to provide a range of opportunities for children to participate in extra curricular activities, which have included a wide range of clubs and other activities.
Martial Arts Club
The Martial arts club has just arrived at Arden Primary... kerpow!
About 20 children have started learning self-defence. The man who is teaching us is called Mr Hennesey. We must remember this is NOT to be used outdoors. We're enjoying it so much, this is because there is a wide range of activities we do: kung-fu, karate, etc. We are also exercising our bodies ensuring we are as fit and healthy as possible, there are also a mixture of different children from different year groups, religions and colour.
Mr Hennesey is a qualified teacher in all types of martial arts; he is always 100% sure about what he's doing and is always making sure we are as safe as possible.

Reading Club
Children are invited to attend a daily reading club before school to improve their reading and phonics. Mrs Seeley finds exciting games and resources to help the children.
Games Club
We have outside coaches who specialise in sports to work with children on fitness, games skills and good teamwork and sportsmanship.

Football Club
Year 3 and 4 enjoy Football Club. First we do some stretching and a game called stuck in the mud and we also play dodge ball. Then the coach, Mr Curtis picks 4 captains. So then the captains pick people for their team.
Sometimes if we're good one week, the next week we have a proper tournament! It's free to join and play! Before the match we pick a cup competition. Here they are: Euro Cup, World Cup and FA Cup
The club is every week after school. Sometimes it is indoors or sometimes it’s outdoor. The pictures below were taken in October 2008. Our team won every game that day. We have to make sure we have our a PE kit to enter. We all love football!

Syconium
Some trainers have been working with a group of children who can be led into silly behaviour or who have underachieved. They have been working on co-operation and confidence building through activities such as role play, radio programmes and ice skating.
Dance
Mrs Parveen has been working with a group of children to enjoy a range of music from around the world and to plan and choreograph routines to perform to others.
ICT
Year 6 children have access to the compute suite for one lunchtime each week to start using the internet in a responsible way. Year 5 children also have access to research their homework topics or prepare information for displays.

Forest School
Forest school is a classroom outdoors where children develop team-work, independence and get a huge boost to their self esteem.
It takes place at the Ackers, where Arden children helped plant the trees that make up the wooded area 25 years ago. Children from Arden School have been lucky enough to attend for day long sessions. The school is run by the Community Service Volunteers.
Activities range from bug hunts, campfires and building shelters to creating natural art.

Recorders

Recorders Club
Mrs Sperring works hard with a small group to learn to play the recorder, leading to performances in front of the school.
Homework
This will begin in September and will allow children to do homework if they need extra support or space and time to complete it, with access to our resources.
